In 1954, Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery opened its gates to minister to the unprecedented rush of Catholic immigrants that flooded into post-World War II Toronto. Over the past 60 years Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery has progressively grown to its present size of 145 acres, stretching from Yonge Street to Bayview Avenue.

The cemetery’s name recognizes the universal symbol for Christianity, the sign of Redemption, the Holy Cross. Rather than being a sign of suffering and death, the Holy Cross now assures us that death has been replaced with eternal life.

A complete selection of burial options is available including mausoleum and cremation entombment as well as ground burial in monument lots, flat marker and cremation graves.

With the opening of Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home in 2014, families can now arrange all of their funeral, cremation and burial needs in one convenient location.

One of the most prominent features at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery is Holy Family Mausoleum.
This three-storey building features the ageless beauty of Mediterranean marble accented by stained glass windows, reliefs and statues honouring the patron saints of many of our parishes. The mausoleum offers families a variety of entombment options including cremation areas with glass front niches for the placement of cremated remains. For those wishing to keep their families together, there are a number of private family rooms available. The mausoleum is accessible for prayer and visitation year-round, climate controlled and wheelchair accessible. Restrooms are provided for your comfort.

The Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops who have led the faithful of our Archdiocese for the past century and a half are remembered and honoured in the Bishop’s outdoor mausoleum, which stands at the head of a dedicated burial section reserved for the priests of the Archdiocese.

Our Blessed Virgin Mausoleum, which opened in 1985, is home to one of the largest private collections of stained glass windows in Canada. The stained glass windows offer our families a meditation of the life of Christ as well as images of the saints. The images are beautiful reminders of our Lord’s saving mission and our hope that our loved ones now share in the Communion of Saints in Heaven.
