Obituary for Joan O'Toole

Joan O’Toole nee Cunningham B.A. M.E.D.
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Joan on August 10, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. She leaves behind her daughter Peggy (Sam) and 5 grandchildren; Jude (Kerri), D’Arcy, Byron (Andrea), Kevin and Kelly. Cherished and missed by her two great grandchildren Blaze and Lauren. She now joins her husband Raymond O’Toole, Kenneth O’Toole, and daughter Charlotte O’Toole. Joan lead a wonderful full life as a teacher for the Ottawa Separate School Board for 36 years. During her years as a teacher she started the newspaper in the classroom where it spread across the country, group teaching, taught history on CTV, travelled and gave lectures and workshops on forms of education. The family will receive friends at the Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East (West of Bayview Ave.) from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm and 8pm on Sunday August 13, 2017. A mass of Christian burial will take place within the funeral home in the Chapel of St. Joseph on Monday August 14, 2017 at 1:30pm, followed by a reception for family and friends. Donations to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Sunnybrook Cancer Unit would be appreciated by the family.
