DI MARIA, Antonino (Tony)

July 27, 1936 - July 16, 2017

Today we lost our hero. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Antonino Di Maria, two weeks shy of his 81st birthday. Heaven has opened the gates to a hard working man whose sole purpose in life was to love and care for his family. Tony was passionate, determined, ambitious, and outspoken. These are the qualities we learned from him, loved and admired him for. With a big heart and large personality, he found solace in family, loving his wife and girls, with a fierce warrior mentality. Tony will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 58 years Maria (nee Scimeca), his loving daughters Francesca (Joe Greco) and Josie (Angelo Fazzari). Tony was a proud Nonno to Vincent (Susan), Anthony, his angel in heaven Andrew, Josanna, Michael, and Melina, and great-Nonno to Audrina and Jordyn. Cherished by his siblings Vincenzo (Giuseppina), Frank (Maria), Joe (Josie), Filippo (Titi), Antonina (Agostino), Agostino (Rosa), Ignazio (Antonina), and Salvatore (Francesca).

Tony was born on July 27, 1936 in Termini Imerese, Sicily, Italy to Agostino and Francesca Di Maria. He was the youngest of nine siblings. He immigrated to Canada in 1955 at the age of 19. Through hard work and perseverance, he successfully ran and operated his own businesses, leaving a legacy his children and grandchildren will always remember and be proud of.

The family would like to thank Dr. Javenmard and the staff at Hill House Hospice for their compassionate and kind care in the final days of his life.
